HM Shah To Attend Landmark Event Celebrating One Year Of New Criminal Laws In Delhi

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will participate in a high-profile event at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi today, commemorating the one-year anniversary of India’s newly implemented criminal laws.

The event, titled ‘Golden Year of Faith in Justice System’, will begin at 3:30 PM and bring together legal experts, policymakers, law enforcement officers, and other dignitaries from across India.

The reformed criminal codes—enacted in 2024—represent a major shift in India’s legal framework, aiming to make justice delivery more transparent, swift, and people-centric.

Focus on cooperation

On the eve of the anniversary event, the Home Minister chaired the Manthan Baithak, a national-level meeting with cooperation ministers from all States and Union Territories.

This meeting was part of ongoing preparations for the International Year of Cooperatives 2025, an initiative championed by India at the global level.

During the Baithak, Amit Shah emphasised the deep-rooted value of cooperation in Indian society.

He noted that, while cooperatives may serve as economic tools globally, in India they represent a way of life rooted in collective living and mutual support.

HM Shah acknowledged the nearly 125-year-old cooperative movement as a transformative force for India’s rural poor, small farmers, and especially women.

He described cooperation as a lifeline that has driven grassroots development, enabled self-reliance, and supported inclusive growth.

He called for renewed efforts to modernise and sensitively revitalise the cooperative ecosystem, recognising its vast potential for improving rural livelihoods and boosting the national economy.

As the nation marks one year of sweeping legal reform, today’s event will not only celebrate past progress but also signal future commitments to justice, cooperation, and inclusive governance.

Amit Shah’s dual focus on criminal law reform and cooperative development reflects the government’s integrated approach to strengthening both institutional frameworks and community empowerment.
