HM Amit Shah Targets Rahul Gandhi; Says Congress Has Continued Losing Elections Under His Leadership

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said Congress has repeatedly lost elections since Rahul Gandhi became a prominent leader, party president and Lok Sabha LoP.

Rahul Gandhi met INDIA bloc and civil society leaders over tea. They vowed to challenge the ECI and NDA government over alleged SIR irregularities and ‘vote theft’.

Shah thanked voters for the BJP’s victories in Gujarat civic polls and recent by-elections. He said Congress has not won a Gujarat Assembly election since 1985.

Amit Shah questioned whether the SIR process could explain the party’s prolonged electoral setbacks and urged Rahul Gandhi to introspect rather than attribute the BJP’s victories to electoral revision.

Shah said Congress won no bypoll seats in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu or Puducherry. He added that BJP captured a Congress seat in Nagaon and won Rajasthan’s local body polls.

Amit Shah further highlighted the Tripura Gram Samiti elections, claiming the NDA had won more than 4,000 of 4,600 seats despite 77.5 per cent voter turnout, while Congress secured only 14 seats.

He said the elections used ballot papers, arguing that the results challenged opposition allegations that electronic voting machines (EVMs) favour the BJP.

Shah claimed Congress had remained out of power in Gujarat for 41 years, Tripura for 33 years and West Bengal for 54 years. He argued that these setbacks predated the SIR process, which began after 2024.

HM Amit Shah said Rahul Gandhi’s protests would not win public trust. He urged Congress to reach people nationwide instead of pursuing what he called ‘negative politics’.

Shah accused Rahul Gandhi of shielding infiltrators by opposing SIR. He predicted a sweeping NDA victory and a fourth consecutive Congress defeat in 2029.
