HM Amit Shah Commends Security Forces For Major Maoist Crackdown In Jharkhand

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday congratulated the security forces for delivering a decisive blow to Maoist insurgents in Jharkhand, reaffirming the government’s commitment to eradicating Left Wing Extremism (LWE) from across India.

In a message posted on X, HM Shah lauded the joint efforts of battalion forces and the state police in a recent anti-Naxal operation, which resulted in the elimination of the notorious Central Committee Member (CCM) Sahdev Soren, alias Parvesh, who carried a bounty of ₹1 crore.

Security forces neutralised two other key Maoist figures, Raghunath Hembram alias Chanchal and Birsen Ganjhu alias Ramkhelawan, both carrying bounties on their heads, during the operation, Shah further announced.

Hembram was a Special Area Committee member with a ₹25 lakh bounty, while Ganjhu was a Zonal Committee member with a ₹10 lakh bounty.

The Home Minister hailed the operation as a landmark success, emphasising that Maoism has now been completely eradicated from the Bokaro region in northern Jharkhand. He expressed confidence that the entire nation would soon be free from the menace of Maoism.

Encounter Details

Earlier on Monday, a joint operation by CoBRA Commandos and local police in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh district led to the killing of three Maoists.

The encounter occurred in the early hours around 6 AM in the Panitiri jungle, situated under the jurisdiction of Girhor police station, close to the Bokaro-Giridih border.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) confirmed that the 209 CoBRA unit, in coordination with Giridih and Hazaribagh police, engaged the Maoist group led by Sahdev Soren.

Following a brief exchange of fire, the forces successfully neutralised three insurgents and recovered three AK-47 rifles from the site.

Officials reported that there were no casualties among the security personnel during the operation, highlighting the professionalism and preparedness of the forces involved.

The elimination of high-profile Maoist leaders represents a critical step in the government’s ongoing campaign to combat Left Wing Extremism.

This operation underscores the enhanced capabilities of India’s security agencies in tackling insurgency and ensuring safety in affected regions.

HM Shah’s message reaffirms the government’s determination to rid the country of Maoist threats, promote peace, and restore normalcy in previously disturbed areas.
