HM Amit Shah, CM Yogi Remember Guru Amar Das On Jyoti Jyot Diwas

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday paid tribute to Sri Guru Amar Das, the third Guru of Sikhism, on his Jyoti Jyot Diwas and recalled his teachings on equality, humility, service and social harmony.

Taking to social media platform X, Amit Shah said Guru Amar Das taught that love, equality and humility represent the true path of devotion. He also highlighted the Guru’s message of service, dedication and social unity.

Shah said Guru Amar Das inspired people to overcome ego and follow the path of service. He added that the Guru’s life and ideals would continue to inspire humanity.

स्नेह, समानता और विनम्रता को भक्ति का सच्चा मार्ग बताने वाले सिख धर्म के तृतीय गुरु, श्री गुरु अमरदास जी के ज्योति ज्योत दिवस पर कोटि-कोटि नमन।

उन्होंने मानव को अहंकार त्यागकर सेवा और समर्पण का पथ अपनाने की प्रेरणा दी तथा समाज को एक होने का संदेश दिया।

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also paid tribute to Guru Amar Das and described him as a messenger of service, harmony and spiritual consciousness. He said the Guru’s message against social evils continues to inspire people and guide efforts towards public welfare.

Guru Amar Das, also known as Guru Amardas, became the third Guru of Sikhism on March 26, 1552, at the age of 73. Before embracing Sikhism, he was inspired by a hymn composed by Guru Nanak after hearing his nephew’s wife, Bibi Amro, recite it.

His teachings emphasised equality, humility and service, while his work contributed to strengthening social harmony and challenging discriminatory practices. His legacy continues to hold significance for Sikh communities and people who draw inspiration from his teachings on human dignity and social welfare.
