Bill Gates Sounds Warning On AI Misuse & Global Risks

Bill Gates has warned that the rapid development of artificial intelligence could create unprecedented risks if powerful AI tools fall into the hands of people with harmful intentions.

Gates said AI could eventually become powerful enough to ‘drive events that cause a billion deaths’, highlighting concerns over the potential misuse of increasingly advanced technology.

He also compared the potential threat from advanced AI with the dangers posed by powerful weapons. Gates said predicting a 100 per cent level of risk remains difficult, but people with harmful intentions could use the latest AI tools to create an exceptionally powerful threat.

While speaking to NBC, Gates said that the combination of people with harmful intentions and the latest AI tools could pose an unprecedented threat.
