‘Bhajan Clubbing’ In Delhi: PM Modi Attends Devotional Music Gathering

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined a devotional music gathering in Delhi as part of events marking the 110th birth anniversary of Bharatiya Jana Sangh leader Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.

PM Modi attended the ‘Bhajan Clubbing’ programme at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Park, where he sat among members of the audience and listened to performances. He was seen clapping to the music and interacting with people at the venue.

The event presented devotional music in a concert-style setting, bringing together traditional bhajans and modern production elements.

Amplified sound, contemporary arrangements, stage lighting and large-scale production accompanied performances dedicated to Lord Ram, Lord Krishna and other Hindu deities.

Bhajan Clubbing has emerged as a newer format for presenting bhajans, kirtans and devotional chants, particularly in urban settings.

Organisers have increasingly used concert-style staging and social media promotion to attract younger audiences, including members of Gen Z.

The trend reflects an intersection of spirituality and contemporary culture. PM Modi has spoken positively about the concept in the past.

The programme came on a day when PM Modi remembered Deendayal Upadhyaya, whose ideas around ‘Antyodaya’ focused on improving the lives of the most disadvantaged sections of society.

The Prime Minister said Deendayal Upadhyaya’s philosophy continued to offer inspiration for public welfare and nation-building.

The Bharatiya Jana Sangh, founded in 1951, was the political predecessor of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
