Govt Says LPG, Petrol, Diesel Supply Stable; Urges No Panic Buying

The government on Wednesday said LPG, petrol, and diesel supplies remain stable across the country and urged citizens to avoid panic buying.

Officials confirmed no shortages at LPG distributors or fuel stations, and said domestic cylinder deliveries continue normally.

Authorities stated that all refineries are operating at elevated capacity with sufficient crude reserves, ensuring steady production.

Domestic LPG output has also increased to meet consumption demands.

The government has already restored up to 20 per cent of the commercial LPG supply and has proposed an additional 10 per cent allocation under PNG expansion measures.

The Petroleum Ministry advised consumers to use digital platforms for LPG bookings and minimise physical visits to distributors. It acknowledged that geopolitical tensions have impacted LPG logistics, encouraging households to adopt alternative fuels such as PNG and electric cooking solutions while conserving energy.

Despite isolated panic buying triggered by rumours, fuel stations continue to maintain adequate petrol and diesel stocks.

Retail outlets are functioning normally nationwide. The government reiterated that citizens should rely solely on verified information.

Enforcement agencies have intensified action against hoarding and black marketing. Authorities conducted over 2,700 raids, seized around 2,000 cylinders, registered more than 650 FIRs, and arrested 155 individuals.

Public sector oil companies carried out extensive inspections to ensure compliance.

Priority supply continues for domestic PNG and CNG users, with commercial and industrial supply maintained at about 80 per cent.

Additional kerosene allocation has also been sanctioned to support states and union territories.
