Former MLA Of Barmer Accused Of Sexually Assaulting and Filming a Minor

A mother filed a case on Wednesday night alleging that nine individuals, including RPS officer Anand Singh Rajpurohit and former Barmer MLA Mevaram Jain, had molested and raped her teenage daughter two years prior.

According to authorities, the case has been filed at the Rajeev Gandhi Nagar authorities Station in Jodhpur.

In the FIR, the woman further claimed that the accused had sexually assaulted a young acquaintance of hers and had put pressure on her to bring more females to them.
Pradhan Girdhari Singh Sodha and two additional police officers, Barmer SHO Gangaram Khawa and Sub Inspector Daud Khan are also included among the suspects.

SHO Shakil Ahmad confirmed the filing of the FIR, stating that Jain and eight other people have been the subject of a report alleging gang rape, intimidation, and threats.

The official said that an investigation has been started. “She has alleged that Jain has been raping her since 2021, while one Ram Swaroop, who had introduced her to Jain, has been raping her for five years,” the source added.

The woman claimed that approximately five years ago, as a result of her father’s illness, she contacted Ram Swaroop from Barmer, who promised to assist her. He took advantage of her weakness to rape her, record the incident, and then continue to abuse her sexually.

She said that in 2021, he brought her to see the then-MLA of Barmer Jain at her flat, and she claimed that ever since the two of them had raped her. In addition, they sexually assaulted her teenage daughter, violated a friend, and demanded that she bring additional ladies.

She further claimed that she was coerced into signing certain blank documents by the accused and the police, who threatened to keep the information from her.

In November 2022, Ram Swaroop filed a case in Barmer against five individuals, two of whom were women, on charges of extortion and demanding ₹ 50 lakh. The accused in this instance was in police custody.

Mevaram Jain was three times elected on a Congress platform as the MLA representing the Barmer constituency. Priyanka Choudhary, a BJP renegade, defeated him in the most recent election, though. Additionally, he served as the Gau Seva Ayog’s chairman.

More than a year ago, several lewd photos and a CD featuring Jain appeared. He said the images were Photoshopped, and he reported the incident to the Kotwali Police Station in Barmer.

The zonal unit of the Enforcement Directorate, Jaipur, has registered a case of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in connection with this ase after it was learnt that an exchange of ₹ 5 crore had allegedly taken place in this case.
