First Installment Of Rs 1,050 Crore For Maha Kumbh Released By Centre: CM Adityanath

The Central Government has disbursed Rs 1,050 crore as the first installment of its Rs 2,100 crore grant for the upcoming Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, acknowledging his leadership in ensuring the event’s grandeur and smooth organization.

Additionally, CM Adityanath emphasized that PM Modi’s guidance drives the ‘double-engine government’ to ensure Maha Kumbh 2025 becomes a grand spiritual and cultural spectacle.

Taking to X, CM Adityanath posted, “In this series, a special grant assistance of ₹2,100 crore was approved by the Central government, out of which the first installment of ₹1,050 crore has been released today. This support from the Central government will help in realising a clean, safe and well-organised Mahakumbh for the devotees.”

“Heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister for this gift which is helpful in realising the concept of divine-grand-digital Maha Kumbh,” he further added.

Scheduled from 13 January to 26 February 2025, the Maha Kumbh occurs every 12 years and will likely welcome around 45 crore visitors.

Mega Projects For Maha Kumbh

The UP government has allocated Rs 5,435.68 crore across 421 projects for the event, focusing on infrastructure upgrades and public amenities.

The government has however approved Rs 3,461.99 crore for financial implementation so far and earmarked an additional Rs 1,636 crore for 125 specific projects across various departments.

Key developments include:

  1. Road & Bridge Construction: Strengthening transport networks with new roads, railway overbridges, and underpasses.
  2. Riverbank Erosion Control: Ensuring safety along the Ganga and Yamuna.
  3. City Beautification: Enhancing Prayagraj’s appearance with thematic intersection upgrades and riverfront development.

Prayagraj is also advancing as a smart city, incorporating IT-based monitoring, clean drinking water facilities, and improved sanitation under the Swachh Bharat Mission. Solid waste management systems and 100% sewage treatment coverage will ensure a clean and eco-friendly environment for pilgrims.

The central grant follows a request by the UP government for financial aid to deliver a world-class event.

The Maha Kumbh however promises to blend tradition and technology, reaffirming Prayagraj’s place on the global map as a center of spirituality and culture.
