On Wednesday night, a fire broke out in the New Delhi-Darbhanga Clone Express at Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, close to the Sarai Bhupat railway station, injuring at least eight persons. Four of the victims were considered critically hurt. Officials stated that the baggage coach suffered some damage from the fire, but the S1, S2, and S3 coaches sustained total devastation.
Etawah Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanjay Kumar Verma told the news agency, “Fire broke out in three coaches of New Delhi-Darbhanga Clone Express in Etawah. Primarily, it seems that fire broke out due to a short circuit. A few people sustained minor injuries but there have not been any casualties. Efforts are underway regarding resuming the journey of the train.”
According to Himanshu Upadhyaya, a spokeswoman for North Central Railways, the fire has been extinguished and no casualties have been reported. He remarked, “The train is about to leave, and additional coaches will be added in Kanpur,” noting that a significant incident was avoided thanks to the railroad employees’ awareness. According to passengers, the train experienced an explosion, which was followed by the start of the fire. There were reports of some passengers jumping from the train.

They also made sure that no spark could start it again. The OHE line is no longer operational. To ascertain the origin of the fire, investigations are still underway.
