Martyr Akhilesh Rai
Akhilesh Kumar Rai from Ghazipur, who lost his life in an IED blast during a search operation in Sadaktola, Kanker district, Chhattisgarh, was laid to rest with state honours on Saturday. The final rites took place at Ganga Ghat in Sherpur, where BSF soldiers paid their respects with a salute. Subsequently, the son of the martyred soldier, Akhilesh Kumar Rai, performed the cremation. Thousands of people gathered at the funeral to bid farewell to the late Akhilesh Rai, and emotions ran high as tears filled the eyes of everyone present during his final journey.
Akhilesh Kumar Rai from Sherpur village in Ghazipur district, who sacrificed his life in an IED blast, was laid to rest with state honors at Ganga Ghat. The cremation ceremony saw the presence of various district officials and leaders, who paid their respects to the fallen hero in Sherpur.
Upon hearing the news of his martyrdom, a wave of sorrow swept through his hometown, Sherpur, in Ghazipur. On Friday, Akhilesh Rai’s remains were transported to Lucknow airport via air ambulance and then taken to his native village, Sherpur.

Akhilesh Rai’s older brother, currently serving in the BSF and stationed in Delhi, shares the commitment to serve the nation. Unfortunately, the father of the martyred soldier passed away in 2018. On Friday morning, the remains of the late Akhilesh Rai were transported to the BSF camp in Raipur via air ambulance. Deputy CM Arun Saav, along with all BSF officers, paid their heartfelt tributes to the fallen hero.
