An explosion at the Ultra Tech cement factory in Bodavada near Jaggaiahpet, Andhra Pradesh, resulted in one fatality and injured 16 others on Sunday. The incident, caused by a boiler explosion, affected seventeen workers from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh, who were promptly admitted to hospitals in Vijayawada.
Tragically, one of the injured individuals passed away during treatment, with three others reported to be in critical condition. District Collector G. Srijana visited the injured and initiated an inquiry to determine the cause of the explosion. She instructed officials to ensure that the injured receive the best available medical care.

Some workers alleged that the incident was due to negligence on the part of company officials. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed concern over the incident, directing officials to prioritize rescue efforts and ensure comprehensive medical assistance for the injured. He further instructed local authorities to furnish a detailed report on the incident’s cause and to take appropriate action against those responsible.
In addition to ensuring affected individuals receive proper compensation from the company, the Chief Minister announced that the state government would provide ex gratia payments to those affected by the tragedy.
