Extremely Saddening, Says PM Modi After Lives Lost In Uttarakhand Bus Tragedy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep grief over the tragic bus accident in Uttarakhand’s Almora district on Tuesday, offering condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

The mishap claimed at least six lives after a bus carrying around 18 passengers lost control and plunged into a deep ravine on the Bhikiyasain-Vinayak road.

Taking to X, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) quoted PM Modi, posting, “The loss of lives due to a bus mishap in the Almora district of Uttarakhand is extremely saddening. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover at the earliest: PM @narendramodi.”

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also expressed profound grief over the accident.

In a post on X, he described the incident as ‘extremely distressing and heart-wrenching’, and assured that rescue and relief operations were being carried out on a priority basis.

CM Dhami prayed for eternal peace for the departed souls and strength for the bereaved families, while also wishing for the recovery of the injured.

Incident Details

Officials promptly admitted the injured passengers to the nearest hospitals and referred the seriously injured to advanced medical centres for better treatment.

The accident site, located near Shilapani on the Bhikiyasain-Vinayak-Jalali motor road, is about 100 kilometres from the district headquarters, making rescue operations challenging.

The bus, en route from Bhikiyasain to Ramnagar and departing Dwarahat around 6 AM, reportedly went out of control and fell into a deep gorge.

Six passengers were declared dead at the scene, while 11 to 12 others sustained injuries.

Teams from the police, district administration, and State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) rushed to the site to assist in rescue operations.

Senior district officials also reached the location to oversee relief efforts.

Officials confirmed that the bus driver and conductor were safe and in stable condition. Authorities actively monitor the rescue operation, remaining vigilant in case any passengers remain trapped inside the vehicle.

The accident has prompted authorities to emphasise road safety and proper emergency preparedness along the Bhikiyasain-Vinayak route.

Both the Prime Minister and CM Dhami reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the affected families and ensuring prompt action in response to the tragedy.

PM Modi and the Uttarakhand administration continue to monitor the situation closely, ensuring that rescue, relief, and medical care are provided efficiently, while offering support and condolences to those impacted by this unfortunate accident.
