Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday commended farmers for driving a new phase of development in Uttar Pradesh, highlighting their crucial contribution to ethanol production and national resilience during global uncertainty.
Speaking after inaugurating Phase I of the Noida International Airport in Jewar, he emphasised that enhanced connectivity will significantly boost the agricultural economy.
PM Modi noted that improved logistics will enable farm produce from western Uttar Pradesh to access global markets more efficiently, strengthening food processing prospects.
The Prime Minister credited farmers for supporting ethanol production through sugarcane cultivation.
PM Modi stated that ethanol blending has reduced India’s reliance on crude oil imports. He added that without this initiative, the country would have imported nearly 45 million barrels of crude oil annually, equivalent to around seven billion litres.
PM Modi also expressed gratitude to farmers who provided land for the airport project, acknowledging their role in enabling critical infrastructure development.
Prime Minister Modi underlined that India continues to sustain growth despite global challenges. He cited several recent developments in the region, including the foundation of a semiconductor plant in Noida, progress in the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor, expansion of the Meerut Metro, and the airport inauguration.
The Prime Minister highlighted the success of the UDAN Scheme, under which over 1.7 crore citizens have travelled at affordable fares.
PM Modi noted plans to build 100 new airports and 200 heliports, with Uttar Pradesh expected to gain significantly.
The Prime Minister added that rapid aviation expansion will create substantial employment opportunities, increasing demand for pilots, crew, and technical professionals, while prompting expansion in training infrastructure.
