Land For Border Fencing In 45 Days: Amit Shah Targets TMC In Bengal

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Bharatiya Janata Party would ensure land allocation for fencing along the Indo-Bangladesh border. He added that the process will conclude within 45 days of assuming office in West Bengal.

While addressing reporters in Kolkata, he criticised Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and questioned the state’s approach towards border security.

“The Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, often blames the Border Security Force (BSF) for illegal infiltration. What will the BSF do if the state government does not provide the land required for erecting barbed fencing at the Indo-Bangladesh border in the state? The state government had deliberately avoided allotting land for border fencing, since illegal infiltrators are the main vote bank of the ruling Trinamool Congress. But it is our promise that after the Assembly election in the state, the BJP will form the government in West Bengal and within 45 days from that land allotment process for border fencing will be completed,” he said.

The Home Minister made these remarks while unveiling a ‘white paper’ criticising the ruling Trinamool Congress administration. He described the document as a ‘chargesheet of the public’.

Emphasising concerns over illegal entry into the country, HM Amit Shah spoke on the issue. He said that the party is determined to address it. He added that the aim is to restore a sense of security among citizens.

HM Shah argued that governance standards in the state have declined significantly, with citizens expressing dissatisfaction. He also raised concerns about women’s safety and alleged political links to criminal elements.

“The safety of the women in West Bengal had been the worst during the current Trinamool Congress regime. All those involved in crimes against women are associates of the Trinamool Congress. Such offenders must face punishment regardless of their political affiliations. That is exactly what is happening in the BJP-ruled states. That will happen in West Bengal also after the BJP comes to power in West Bengal after the elections,” he said.

During the interaction, HM Amit Shah also praised Suvendu Adhikari for his leadership role in opposing the state government. He noted that Adhikari has continued his political efforts despite facing significant challenges.
