Eknath Shinde Congratulates CM-Designate Fadnavis Ahead Of Swearing-In

Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of the new MahaYuti government today, caretaker Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde extended his congratulations to Chief Minister-designate Devendra Fadnavis.

The BJP leader, elected as the party’s Legislative Wing Leader, received Shinde’s best wishes during a meeting at the Varsha Bungalow in Mumbai.

After over 10 days since the MahaYuti’s overwhelming electoral victory, Fadnavis will likely take oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra today in a grand ceremony at Azad Maidan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the event, which is also likely to draw several NDA Chief Ministers and prominent leaders.

According to sources, Eknath Shinde and NCP leader Ajit Pawar will assume roles as Deputy Chief Ministers in the new government.

Ending speculation about the leadership structure, Fadnavis, Shinde, and Pawar formally met Governor CP Radhakrishnan on Wednesday to stake their claim to form the MahaYuti government.

Addressing the media after meeting the Governor, Fadnavis stated, “The swearing-in ceremony of the new government will be held tomorrow at 5:30 PM in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I met Eknath Shinde and requested him to join us in this government, as it is the wish of MahaYuti workers. We will fulfil the promises made to the people of Maharashtra.”

Reflecting on the last two-and-a-half years of the MahaYuti government, Eknath Shinde expressed pride in its achievements.

He further asserted, “I am very happy with the completion of two-and-a-half years. The work done by our government–the MahaYuti government–by the three of us and our team in the last 2.5 years is remarkable. It will be written in golden letters in history. We are proud to have taken such significant decisions.”

MahaYuti Secures Historic Win As Fadnavis Begins Third Term

This marks Fadnavis’ third term as Chief Minister, following his unanimous election as Leader of the BJP Legislative Party on Wednesday.

The 2024 Maharashtra Assembly Elections were a landmark for the BJP-led MahaYuti alliance, which secured a decisive mandate, winning 235 of the 288 seats.

The BJP emerged as the single-largest party with 132 seats, while its allies Shiv Sena and NCP won 57 and 41 seats, respectively.

In contrast, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi suffered a significant defeat.

Congress managed to secure only 16 seats, Shiv Sena (UBT) 20, and the NCP faction led by Sharad Pawar just 10.
