Dr. Rashmi Gupta, Director of Felix Hospital, received prestigious accolades from both the Government of India and the Government of Maharashtra on February 27th for her outstanding contributions to healthcare and women’s entrepreneurship. The recognition ceremony took place at Westin Koregaon Park, Pune.
Born in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Rashmi Gupta faced numerous challenges during her education due to her modest background and gender. Undeterred, she pursued her dream of becoming a doctor and eventually achieved it. After completing her MBBS from Agra Medical College, she specialized in Newborn and Pediatrics from Kanpur Medical College.
Despite initial hurdles, Dr. Gupta established her clinic in a small 2BHK flat, equipped with just two old chairs and a table. Alongside managing her clinic, she continued to practice in various hospitals.
Dr. Gupta’s journey encountered further obstacles when her clinic was shuttered by government order. Undeterred, she founded Felix Hospital and transformed it from a 50-bed facility to a 200-bed institution. Under her leadership, Felix Hospital has expanded its footprint, with plans to increase its capacity to 700 beds in the next two years. Dr. Gupta’s efforts have propelled Felix Hospital into the ranks of major healthcare providers in the Delhi-NCR region.
Under Dr. Gupta’s leadership, Felix Hospital has prioritized women’s empowerment, with 70% of its workforce comprising women. Women hold key positions across various departments, reflecting Dr. Gupta’s commitment to providing equal opportunities for women’s advancement.
Dr. Gupta actively engages in social welfare initiatives. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Felix Hospital provided comprehensive assistance to the public, including testing, contact tracing, home medical kits, teleconsultations, and oxygen delivery. The hospital also operates free health check-up camps and collaborates with NGOs to promote holistic development in communities.
Dr. Gupta emphasizes the importance of work-life balance, scheduling, and time management for women. She champions the notion that women are not inferior to men and highlights their achievements across various domains, encouraging them to reach new heights.
The recognition bestowed upon Dr. Rashmi Gupta for her remarkable achievements serves as a testament to the invaluable contributions of women in society, further bolstering their morale and inspiring future generations.
