Dr. Rajeshwar Singh Critisizes Taliban Imposing New Restrictions On Women’s Education

The Taliban has issued a new decree restricting women from pursuing nursing education, continuing its campaign of strict limitations on women’s rights. The decision, announced after a recent meeting of Taliban officials, has sparked international outrage and condemnation.

New Ban Adds To Long List of Restrictions On Women

This latest move by the Taliban further deprives women of educational opportunities, following a pattern of systematic gender-based restrictions since the group took power. Women in Afghanistan have already been banned from attending secondary schools and universities, and now the ban extends to vital vocational training programs, including nursing education.

BJP MLA Condemns Taliban’s Actions

Reacting to the Taliban’s latest decree, BJP MLA Dr. Rajeshwar Singh took to social media, expressing his shock and outrage. In a post on X, Singh condemned the move, calling it “a serious human rights violation.” He warned that such actions would set civilization back “to the Dark Ages.” Singh highlighted the stark contrast between the Taliban’s treatment of women and the progress achieved by women in other parts of the world, including fighter pilots, astronauts, and political leaders such as Jacinda Ardern, Angela Merkel, and Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

“On one hand, women are reaching new heights in fields once considered off-limits to them. On the other, the Taliban is confining women to their homes and denying them basic rights,” Singh wrote.

Stripping Women Of Basic Rights And Opportunities

Under the Taliban regime, women have not only been deprived of education but have also been stripped of their basic rights. They are forbidden from participating in public life, holding jobs, and moving freely without male escorts. This repression extends to their ability to support their families financially, further marginalizing women in society.

The ban on women in critical sectors such as health and education has profound consequences for both individual women and society as a whole. Globally, women have made significant contributions in fields such as science, literature, politics, and space exploration. Yet, under the Taliban, they are denied these same opportunities, which Dr. Singh decries as a form of bigotry and oppression.

Call For Global Condemnation

In his post, Dr. Singh appealed to political leaders, human rights organizations, and international bodies to strongly condemn the Taliban’s actions. “This step is not only against women, but also against human rights, democracy, and progress,” he said. He called on democratic nations, including the United Nations and the European Union, to take firm action against the Taliban’s atrocities.

Singh also urged Muslim countries and organizations such as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the International Union of Muslim Scholars, and the Arab League to denounce the Taliban’s actions. He emphasized that Islam grants both men and women equal rights to education and opportunities, and that conservative interpretations of the religion, like those employed by the Taliban, harm society’s development.

A Unified Stand Against Oppression

Dr. Singh concluded his statement by stressing the need for global unity in the face of such oppression. “We must raise our voice and strongly condemn this act by the Taliban. It is time that we all stand together for women’s rights and against these tyrannical policies,” he said, calling for greater support for Afghan women from all corners of the world.

The international community continues to monitor the situation in Afghanistan, with growing concern over the long-term effects of the Taliban’s actions on the rights and futures of Afghan women.
