Rajya Sabha MP and former Deputy Chief Minister Dr Dinesh Sharma asserted that young people form the backbone of the country’s progress and are well-equipped to lead its future. He noted that the Central Government continues to introduce schemes aimed at fulfilling the ambitions of the youth.
Dr Dinesh Sharma delivered these remarks during the closing and prize distribution ceremony of the State-Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026 held at the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha.
MY Bharat and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports jointly organised the event to strengthen the understanding of democratic systems, encourage policy dialogue, and nurture leadership qualities.
Dr Sharma observed that over three days, participants engaged in thoughtful discussions centred on nation-building.
Nearly 370 young individuals from across Uttar Pradesh assembled to deliberate on pressing national issues, demonstrating awareness, enthusiasm, and readiness to contribute to India’s development.
The Rajya Sabha MP remarked that the organisation of similar programmes across states indicates that the initiative has evolved into a nationwide movement.
Applauding MY Bharat and the Ministry for the successful conduct of the event, Dr Dinesh Sharma highlighted that such platforms enable youth to articulate their ideas effectively.
Referring to the Union Budget, Dr Sharma described it as a decisive step towards meeting the aspirations of young citizens. He pointed out the emphasis on strengthening healthcare to build a healthier youth population, alongside measures to promote entrepreneurship and start-ups, thereby generating employment.
Dr Sharma added that initiatives like ABC Labs encourage innovation and skill development, while the Orange Economy is creating fresh opportunities in creative sectors. He further noted that a 34 per cent increase in the budget allocation for the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports reflects the government’s focus on youth as key drivers of national progress.
The Rajya Sabha MP also termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s engagement with young voices in Delhi as a landmark step, stating that their inputs have influenced policy direction and budget priorities.
Dr Sharma announced that the top three participants from the event will represent Uttar Pradesh at the national-level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament at Parliament House in New Delhi, bringing recognition to the state.
Participants demonstrated confidence, analytical thinking, and a strong sense of patriotism while presenting their views on key subjects such as health, education, entrepreneurship, cleanliness, and sports. They inspired young people across the country with their contributions, and organisers honoured the winners during the ceremony.
Several dignitaries attended the programme, including MLAs Neeraj Bora, Shashank Verma, and Surabhi, along with Principal Secretary Pradeep Dubey, State Director Gopesh Pandey, Regional Director Anil Singh, Deputy Director Vikas Singh, and Deputy Marshal Manmohan Pandey.
