Dhruv Rathee Detained At Gurugram Residence Ahead Of Delhi Protest

Gurugram Police detained social media influencer Dhruv Rathee at his residence on Saturday ahead of the planned protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.

Rathee attended a demonstration against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bengaluru on Thursday. He was scheduled to join the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar later on Saturday.

According to a post on the CJP’s X account, around 50 plainclothes police personnel reached Rathee’s residence at approximately 8 AM and took him into custody.

The reported detention comes as Delhi Police strengthens security across the national Capital ahead of the proposed demonstration.

Authorities are checking vehicles at borders and deploying officers equipped with body cameras to record potential incidents.

Security has increased outside the residences of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi.

Police are conducting drone surveillance at key locations. Several Metro stations, including Supreme Court and Mandi House, have been closed as part of the security arrangements.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Anant Mittal visited the Aya Nagar border to assess preparations. Officers are inspecting vehicles entering Delhi to prevent unauthorised individuals from reaching New Delhi.

Mittal said police had introduced special arrangements across Delhi and the South district. He said officers were checking inter-state and inter-district borders to maintain peace and uphold law and order.

At New Delhi Railway Station, Delhi Police and Rapid Action Force personnel remain deployed. Officers are conducting security marches and using drones to monitor the situation.

The authorities have stepped up surveillance and access checks ahead of the planned protest, with security measures focused on preventing disturbances and maintaining public order.
