Fog in Delhi
On Sunday morning, a dense fog enveloped Delhi and various parts of the country, causing transportation disruptions. A total of 22 trains connecting the national capital experienced delays, while RK Puram recorded a minimum temperature of 7 degrees. The thick fog led to zero visibility in the airport area, posing a potential threat to flight schedules. Anticipating the weather conditions, Delhi Airport had issued a fog alert the previous night, advising travelers to stay in touch with their airlines for the latest flight updates.
Despite the challenging visibility conditions, both landings and takeoffs were ongoing at Delhi Airport. However, flights not compliant with CATIII standards were at risk of being affected. Passengers were urged to stay informed by contacting their respective airlines for real-time flight information. Additionally, the air quality in several areas plummeted to the ‘severe’ category.

Given the severity of the cold and fog, the weather office issued a red alert, predicting dense fog in Delhi until Tuesday. The onset of the cold wave was evident on Friday when the temperature dropped to 3.9 degrees Celsius, marking the season’s first cold wave day. Saturday recorded the coldest night of the season at 3 degrees in Aya Nagar, the last village on the Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road in Delhi. The adverse weather conditions continued to impact daily life, prompting caution and vigilance among residents and travelers alike.
