Teacher at Sakets Gyan Bharti School
An auto-rickshaw rider who was allegedly trying to protect her mobile phone from motorcycle-borne snatchers caused her to fall, breaking her nose and injuring other portions of her body on Friday in Saket, south Delhi.
The victim, Yovika Chowdhary, is a teacher who works in Saket and resides in Neb Sarai in south Delhi. Around 3.15 pm, she was travelling back from school when the alleged crime took place.
According to Chowdhary’s police complaint, she was walking through Khokha Market in Saket after boarding an autorickshaw outside PVR when two males on a Honda Spledour motorcycle came up from behind and attempted to take her iPhone 13 from her hand.

Chowdhary claimed that she was clutching her phone hard to stop thieves from stealing it when she fell out of the auto-rickshaw as they grabbed for it. She hurt her nose and other body parts in the fall and the ensuing tumble. In the meantime, the robbers snatched the woman’s phone and fled quickly.
The victim was taken emergency medical care at a hospital after being injured.
She said to the authorities that the kidnappers didn’t have helmets and had the appearance of young men.

The suspected crime’s deputy commissioner of police for the south, Chandan Chowdhary, was not immediately available for comment.
