As the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Delhi next month approaches, delegates scheduled to attend will begin their arrivals shortly. With more than 30 hotels in Delhi-NCR set to accommodate these delegates, preparations are in full swing for the upcoming summit.
During the G20 Leaders’ Summit, US President Joe Biden’s accommodations have been arranged at the ITC Maurya Sheraton, while Chinese President Xi Jinping will be hosted at the Taj Palace. In total, 23 hotels in Delhi and an additional nine in the NCR region have been designated to host the G20 delegates, according to sources.
Noteworthy Delhi hotels for the G20 summit accommodations include ITC Maurya, Taj Mansingh, Taj Palace, Hotel Oberoi, Hotel Lalit, The Lodhi, Le Meridien, Hyatt Regency, Shangri-La, Leela Palace, Hotel Ashoka, Eros Hotel, The Surya, Radisson Blu Plaza, JW Marriott, Sheraton, The Leela Ambience Convention, Hotel Pullman, Rosette Hotel, and The Imperial.
In the NCR region, the designated hotels for the G20 summit accommodations encompass The Vivanta in Surajkund, ITC Grand in Gurugram, Taj City Centre in Gurugram, Hyatt Regency in Gurugram, The Oberoi in Gurugram, WestINN in Gurugram, and Crown Plaza in Greater Noida.
Sources indicate that for the duration of Joe Biden’s stay at the ITC Maurya Hotel, personnel from the ‘American Secret Service’ will be strategically positioned on each floor. Biden’s accommodation is set on the 14th floor, with a dedicated elevator installed for exclusive access. Notably, approximately 400 rooms have been reserved within the hotel premises.
Sources have revealed that during the G20 Summit, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is slated to reside at the Shangri-La Hotel, while French President Emmanuel Macron’s accommodations will be at the Claridges Hotel. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will be hosted at the Imperial Hotel, while Chinese President Xi Jinping’s stay is arranged at the Taj Palace hotel.
Advance liaison teams from countries such as the US, the UK, and China have already arrived in India.
As per sources, the Turkish delegations are set to be accommodated at The Oberoi Hotel in Delhi, while delegations from Mauritius, Netherlands, Nigeria, and Spain are scheduled to stay at Le Meridien.
Delegations from China and Brazil are slated to stay at the Taj Palace in Delhi, while the Indonesian and Australian delegations will find accommodation at the Imperial Hotel. Likewise, the Shangri-La will host delegations from the United Kingdom and Germany, and the Hyatt Regency in Delhi will provide lodging for the Italian and Singaporean delegations.
The US delegation’s residence during the event will be at ITC Maurya Sheraton in Chanakyapuri. The Lodhi Hotel is chosen to accommodate the Oman delegation, while the French delegation will find lodging at the Claridges Hotel. The Grand Hyatt in Gurugram will host the Bangladesh delegation.
As per sources, the delegations from Canada and Japan will be hosted at The Lalit Hotel in Delhi.
The Korean delegation will be lodged at the Oberoi Hotel in Gurugram, the Egyptian delegation will find accommodation at ITC Sheraton in Saket, and the Saudi Arabian delegation’s residence will be at the Leela Hotel in Gurugram.
The UAE delegation’s accommodations have been arranged at the Taj Mahal Hotel in Delhi.
Central paramilitary forces, NSG commandos, and Delhi Police teams will collaborate to ensure the security of foreign guests during the event. Commandos from various security agencies have been assigned distinct responsibilities to enhance overall security measures.
In addition, the ‘American Secret Service’ team responsible for Biden’s security will arrive in Delhi three days prior to the commencement of the two-day G20 summit, scheduled to begin on September 9.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has convened multiple meetings to deliberate on security arrangements. A total of fifty teams comprising CRPF guards will be deployed to ensure the security of G20 delegates.
