Deeply Disturbing, Unacceptable: India Says Attacks On Gulf Energy Sites Must Stop

India on Thursday called recent attacks on energy installations across the Gulf region disturbing. The Ministry of External Affairs said such strikes will deepen the global energy outlook.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India had urged all sides to avoid targeting civilian infrastructure, including energy assets. He said the latest attacks are unacceptable and must stop.

Reports said the assaults on Persian Gulf oil and gas facilities are pushing the US-Israeli war with Iran into a dangerous phase. They also warned that the crisis could worsen pressure on global energy supplies.

US President Donald Trump said Washington ‘knew nothing’ about Israel’s strike on Iran’s South Pars gas field. He warned Tehran of retaliation if it ‘unwisely’ targets Qatar again, after Iran hit part of Qatar’s LNG facility.

Iran then warned regional states that several energy assets are now legitimate targets. South Pars is the world’s largest natural gas reserve and is shared by Iran and Qatar.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed the West Asia situation with the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah. Both sides exchanged views on the situation and shared concern over developments in the region.

Prime Minister Modi repeated India’s condemnation of attacks on Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also stressed that safe and free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz remains a top priority.

Earlier, PM Modi also spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron. The two leaders discussed West Asia, de-escalation, and the need to return to dialogue and diplomacy.
