CRPF Officer Killed in Terrorist Attack In J&K’s Udhampur

Jammu, Aug 19 – A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officer was killed on Monday in a terrorist attack in Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir. Officials identified the officer as Inspector Kuldeep Singh. The terrorists attacked a routine CRPF patrol party in the Cheel area of Ramnagar, resulting in Singh’s death. The terrorists opened indiscriminate fire, leading to Singh’s martyrdom. Authorities have cordoned off the area for a search operation.

Increased Military Presence in Affected Areas

Terrorists have conducted ambush attacks against the army, security forces, and civilians over the past two months in Udhampur, Kathua, Reasi, Doda, Rajouri, and Poonch districts. Reports indicate that a group of 40 to 50 hardcore foreign mercenaries is operating in these areas. In response, the army has deployed over 4,000 highly trained soldiers, including elite Para commandos and those specialized in mountain warfare, to combat this new wave of terrorism.

The terrorists use a strategy of surprise attacks and then retreat into the densely forested and rugged mountains. To counter this, the army and the CRPF have positioned forces on the mountain tops of Kathua, Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, Udhampur, and Doda districts.

Security Forces Engage Terrorists

In the past fortnight, the presence of security forces in the dense forests and rugged terrain has led to several engagements with the terrorists. The security forces have successfully exchanged fire with the terrorists at multiple locations, intensifying their efforts to neutralize the threat.
