Court Warns Accused In Delhi Riots Case For Delaying Proceedings

Karkardooma Court warned the accused in the Delhi riots conspiracy case for delaying proceedings. Additional Sessions Judge Sameer Bajpai urged them to avoid unnecessary delays. The judge adjourned the hearing to October 21, emphasizing strict action if delays continue.

Lawyers Fail to Argue Despite Given Time

The defense lawyers had agreed to argue in sequence during the last hearing. However, when the session began, no lawyer stepped forward. Tahir Hussain’s lawyer asked for more time as he was newly appointed. Asif Iqbal Tanha’s lawyer cited personal issues, while Umar Khalid’s lawyer promised to argue after Hussain’s defense. Sharjeel Imam’s lawyer said they couldn’t agree on the sequence.

Court to Take Future Delays Seriously

Judge Bajpai reminded the defense that daily hearings were planned. He warned all defendants that future delays will be taken seriously. The case, involving charges under IPC and UAPA, will proceed without further interruptions.
