The Congress has taken significant strides in gearing up for the impending Lok Sabha polls by announcing a lineup of coordinators assigned to 539 Lok Sabha constituencies. These individuals will meticulously assess the political landscape within their respective regions and furnish valuable feedback to the party leadership, crucial for negotiations regarding seat-sharing in the INDIA bloc.
Jairam Ramesh, Congress general secretary, shared the announcement on X, emphasizing the party’s readiness with the release of the coordinators’ list covering 539 Parliamentary constituencies, with plans for an additional four to be added imminently. Ramesh echoed the sentiment of preparedness by stating, “Hain Taiyaar Hum! Badlega Bharat. Jeetega INDIA!”

During a press conference, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge disclosed that the party has confirmed observers for all 500-plus constituencies, strategically positioned to gain insight into each Parliamentary Constituency’s dynamics. Kharge explained that while the exact number of seats the Congress would contest remains undecided, their efforts aim to have representation across the board. This move is to ensure adaptability in negotiations with alliance partners, allowing flexibility to pivot from one seat to another as per consensus within the ‘INDIA Alliance’.
Kharge promptly approved the proposal for the appointment of constituency-wise coordinators for the impending General Elections. Simultaneously, the party initiated formal discussions on seat-sharing with the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab and Delhi, marking the onset of negotiations with various parties.
The Congress’ five-member committee on seat-sharing, led by convener Mukul Wasnik and including senior figures Ashok Gehlot and Bhupesh Baghel, conducted internal consultations with state Congress chiefs. The committee has presented its findings to party chief Kharge.

In a parallel move, the Congress established the Pradesh Election Committee of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, appointing Bhupen Borah as chairman and Debabrata Saikia as vice chairman, comprising 38 members alongside four ex-officio members.
Additionally, the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee witnessed a significant reshuffle with the appointment of six vice presidents, seven general secretaries, and 19 secretaries. Asish Saha heads the Tripura unit, which also named a treasurer and 41 executive members.
These strategic appointments and negotiations underscore the Congress’ proactive approach in orchestrating its election strategies and alliances, poised for the imminent political landscape.
