Complaint Seeks Action Against ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’ Song

A formal complaint has sought stringent action against the allegedly obscene track Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke, featuring Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt.

Social activist Shalini Ali has approached both the Central Board of Film Certification and the National Commission for Women, demanding an immediate prohibition and legal scrutiny.

In her representation to CBFC Chairperson Prasoon Joshi, Ali described the song as offensive and indecent. She argued that the lyrics and visuals breach acceptable cultural norms and indicate a decline in societal standards.

The track, part of the film KD: The Devil, has triggered widespread criticism since its release.

Simultaneously, Ali petitioned NCW Chairperson Vijaya Kishore Rahatkar, urging prompt intervention. She emphasised the adverse influence of such content on younger audiences, asserting that it normalises objectification and undermines respect for women.

The controversy has already drawn institutional attention.

The National Human Rights Commission has issued a notice, leading to the removal of the video from YouTube and other platforms.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has reportedly directed authorities to verify allegations and act accordingly.

Legal experts, including Vineet Jindal, have cited provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act. A complaint has also reached the Delhi Police Cyber Cell.

While filmmaker Onir criticised censorship priorities, actor Kangana Ranaut supported the action.

Lyricist Raqeeb Alam denied authorship of the disputed lines, attributing them to a translated version by director Prem.

The episode has reignited debate over artistic liberty and public decency, with calls for accountability intensifying.
