On the occasion of the third anniversary of Bharat Express News Network, a grand mega conclave themed ‘Viksit Bharat 2047: Naye Bharat Ki Baat’ was organised in Delhi.
The prestigious event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Bharat Express CMD and Editor-in-Chief Upendrra Rai, along with Acharya Pramod Krishnam, Acharya Manish, and Acharya Kapil Muni.
During the event, CMD Upendrra Rai made a major and historic announcement for the media industry, stating that the new journey of Sahara News Network will now begin with Bharat Express.
Addressing the audience at the conclave, CMD Upendrra Rai also shared his thoughts on life philosophy. He said that the nature of both nature and God is like that of a referee—always impartial and fair.
Recalling his long association with Sahara News Network, CMD Upendrra Rai announced the restart of all channels under the network.
Along with the revival of broadcast operations, he also pledged a strong comeback in print media by expanding the newspaper Rashtriya Sahara across the country on a large scale.
This major declaration has created fresh energy and excitement in the media and journalism industry.
Speaking at the event, CMD Upendrra Rai said that Subrata Roy, popularly known as Sahara Shri, had contributed immensely to the country. He recalled his own journey of nearly 23 years with Sahara News Network.
Bharat Express CMD emphasised that loyalty is the core mantra of success. According to him, while interviewing someone, he always evaluates the person’s loyalty factor because those who cannot remain committed cannot achieve big things in life.
CMD said he ran the network as CEO and Editor-in-Chief for 15 years and never heard a single complaint from Sahara Shri. He added that, following legal obligations and with the consent of Sahara management, he has resolved to run the entire network as long as he lives, calling it his true tribute to Sahara Shri.
Bharat Express CMD announced that all assets associated with Sahara News will be revived, and the channels will be brought back as soon as possible. He claimed that within just one month, the Sahara newspaper will once again reach readers’ homes with a renewed format and strong editorial identity.
The group will initially have the capacity to publish newspapers from 20 cities, with a target of expanding to 30 cities across the country.
Following this integration, the media house is likely to become the second or third largest network in the country.
CMD Upendrra Rai stated that Sahara holds licenses for eight news channels and, together with Bharat Express, the network will have a total of 13 news channel licenses.
In addition, the network will develop a strong digital platform. Sahara Group was among the first to start regional news channels in India, and it now plans to expand this tradition on a larger scale.
Speaking about technological change, CMD Upendrra Rai highlighted the growing impact of artificial intelligence. He said that in the past three years, AI has completely transformed the world and human life.
Referring to a suggestion from Acharya ji, he noted that social media has empowered society in ways governments have not been able to achieve.
To leverage this shift, a new news grid is being developed. Through this system, any Indian sitting anywhere in the world will be able to record news on a mobile phone and upload it directly to the network. A special team will filter and verify the content before publication.
CMD Rai described this initiative as a major revolution in journalism that could connect thousands of reporters on a single platform.
Focusing on the youth demographic, Bharat Express CMD Upendrra Rai said that nearly 70 per cent of the country’s population belongs to Gen Z. To cater to this audience, the network will launch a fully dedicated channel.
He also announced that the network will launch a business and economy-focused platform, Bharat Express Bazaar, within the next three months.
