CM Yogi Hails Govind Ballabh Pant as a Great Son of India and Freedom Fighter

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid heartfelt homage to the eminent freedom fighter and Bharat Ratna awardee, Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant, on the anniversary of his passing on Thursday.

During the solemn ceremony where he adorned Pandit Pant’s memorial with floral tributes, CM Yogi Adityanath praised the late leader’s pivotal role in India’s struggle for independence.

Reflecting on Pant’s illustrious legacy, CM Yogi described him as a stalwart of the freedom movement and a devoted servant of Mother India. He highlighted Pandit Pant’s significant contributions, particularly as the first Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh following the state’s reorganization in 1950.

CM Yogi emphasized Pant’s unwavering commitment to Mahatma Gandhi’s vision, citing his active participation in various movements for India’s liberation. Additionally, he underscored Pant’s crucial role as the nation’s Home Minister, stepping into the position after the untimely demise of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Pant’s tenure as Home Minister, CM Yogi noted, was marked by his dedication to advancing Hindi as the official language, a milestone achievement in India’s linguistic landscape. This commitment to national unity and linguistic diversity earned Pant the esteemed Bharat Ratna award in 1957, alongside his significant contributions as a member of the Constituent Assembly of India.

In closing, CM Yogi expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the state for Pant’s enduring service to both Uttar Pradesh and the nation, ensuring that his legacy continues to inspire generations to come.
