Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on Sunday hailed the next-generation Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms, describing them as a historic Diwali gift from PM Narendra Modi to the nation, including Uttar Pradesh.
He praised the decision to remove tax brackets on essential items such as milk, curd, ghee, cheese, and educational materials, while imposing higher taxes on drugs and wasteful spending.
Speaking at the launch of the NaMo Yuva Run for Drug-Free India, CM Yogi said the reforms would ease inflation for the poor, make education more affordable, and enhance citizens’ purchasing power.
He added that the reform would also boost markets, create jobs, and open new avenues of growth.
“The reform ensures welfare for traders, relief for the poor, and benefits for all consumers. Every resident of Uttar Pradesh must be made aware of its significance,” the Chief Minister said.
Highlighting the BJP’s ongoing Seva Pakhwada campaign (September 17–October 2), CM Yogi noted that Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) workers are conducting blood donation drives, cleanliness campaigns, and health camps, adding a transformative dimension to the initiative.
He linked the campaign to the vision of Viksit India, inspired by Prime Minister Modi’s call during the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to adopt five vows:
“These vows will guide the nation towards development,” CM Yogi said.
The Chief Minister said that Uttar Pradesh has launched the ‘Viksit India – Viksit Uttar Pradesh’ campaign, which has received overwhelming support from youth, farmers, workers, entrepreneurs, and intellectuals.
He emphasised that self-reliance is the foundation of progress, noting that a healthy society is key to building a self-reliant nation. Events like the NaMo Marathon, he said, give new direction and energy to the youth.
CM Yogi reminded the gathering that since 2014, Prime Minister Modi has accelerated initiatives for health and youth empowerment.
Addressing the youth directly, he said, “Youth power represents boundless energy. When directed positively, it can transform the nation. When diverted towards drugs, it leads only to ruin.”
He stressed that the NaMo Marathon serves as a strong call for youth to reject addiction and embrace constructive energy for nation-building.
