Centre Applauds CM Yogi Adityanath For UP’s GeM Success

CM Yogi Adityanath’s leadership in digital governance has earned high praise from the Centre, with Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal formally acknowledging Uttar Pradesh’s commitment.

In a letter addressed to CM Yogi, Goyal expressed his gratitude and lauded the state’s remarkable performance in promoting transparency in public procurement through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal.

The Minister stated, “The exemplary efforts of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are being appreciated by the Central Government. By adopting and successfully implementing the GeM platform, Uttar Pradesh has set a model for other states to follow.”

Uttar Pradesh leads in e-procurement

Under CM Yogi’s guidance, the Uttar Pradesh government recorded an impressive procurement figure exceeding ₹5,427 crore on the GeM portal in the financial year 2024–25.

This historic achievement underscores the state’s growing reliance on digital tools to streamline processes, ensure timely purchases, and eliminate bureaucratic delays.

Goyal noted that such a milestone was only possible due to CM Yogi’s unwavering support and continuous oversight.

He highlighted that UP’s performance not only demonstrates effective governance but also strengthens the credibility of public institutions through transparency and accountability.

GeM: A model of efficiency

The GeM portal, introduced to enhance efficiency and reduce corruption in public procurement, has found a dedicated champion in Uttar Pradesh.

The state’s efforts have promoted fair competition, improved service delivery, and encouraged timely decision-making—key aspects of the broader vision of Digital India.

Uttar Pradesh has fully integrated GeM into its administrative operations, establishing itself as a leading state in e-governance and demonstrating how technology delivers real, measurable change at the grassroots level.

The Centre’s appreciation of CM Yogi’s governance comes at a time when other states are looking to adopt similar models of digital transformation.

UP’s success has become a case study in leveraging technology for the public good, positioning it as a benchmark in the country’s e-procurement landscape.

As the state also continues to modernise its administrative machinery, the recognition from the Central Government reaffirms UP’s trajectory towards greater efficiency and inclusivity.

CM Yogi’s leadership is further driving Uttar Pradesh’s digital governance model to influence national policy and inspire other states to adopt technology-driven governance.
