A large-scale Tiranga event in Haryana secured two entries in the Golden Book of World Records on Thursday.
The recognitions covered the categories of ‘Longest Mass March With Flag’ and ‘Most People Holding a National Flag’.
The records were registered in the name of Gaurav Gautam of Palwal, Haryana.
Organisers said thousands participated in the patriotic event held on August 13.
A provisional certificate recognised the longest mass march with flags. Participants carried the national flag across a record distance.
Another certificate honoured the largest gathering of people holding a national flag.
The historic Tiranga Yatra featured a massive tricolour measuring 5 km in length and 10 feet in width.
Organisers said the flag received grand welcomes at around 20 locations. Schoolchildren, elders and matriarchs joined the march enthusiastically.
The twin recognitions have added momentum to Independence Day celebrations and the government’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.
Launched under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the initiative encourages citizens to hoist the national flag at home.
The campaign aims to strengthen citizens’ personal connection with the Tiranga. It also promotes national unity and collective participation in nation-building.
This year, ‘Har Ghar Tiranga 2026’ celebrates 150 years of Vande Mataram. It highlights patriotism, pride in the national flag and love for the motherland.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens on Tuesday to join the campaign on August 15 and honour freedom fighters.
Sharing a reel on Instagram, PM Modi wrote, “Come, let us make #HarGharTiranga a celebration in every home.”
