Brutal Retaliation In Karnataka: Woman Paraded Naked, Tied To Electric Pole After Son Elopes With Girl, Say Police

In a horrifying incident in Belagavi, a woman faced alleged assault, public humiliation, and restraint to an electric pole after her son eloped with a girl engaged to someone else. The girl’s family retaliated by attacking the son’s residence in Vantamuri village, causing substantial damage.

Subsequently, they forcibly took the mother, parading her naked and tying her to an electric pole. The police promptly intervened, securing her release and apprehending seven individuals linked to the assault. An ongoing investigation is underway, and additional security measures have been implemented to prevent further incidents.

Belagavi Police Commissioner Siddramappa revealed that the 24-year-old Ashok and 18-year-old Priyanka, from the same community and village, had eloped at 12:30 am on Monday. In response, enraged family members stormed Ashok’s house, subjecting his mother to inhumane treatment.

Upon receiving the information at 4 am, the Police Sub Inspector and senior officials visited the village, resulting in the arrest of seven perpetrators. A case has been registered at Kakati police station.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah denounced the incident, vowing to take strict action against the offenders. Describing it as “extremely inhuman,” he emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring justice for the aggrieved family.

Home Minister G Parameshwara, who visited the area, characterized the incident as inhuman, reporting that 10-15 members of the girl’s family attacked the youth’s mother, who was alone at home. The police promptly rescued her, providing medical treatment, and arrested seven individuals, who will face legal proceedings.

Expressing deep shame over the incident, Parameshwara assured that law enforcement is diligently pursuing the case to bring the eloped couple back while emphasizing the government’s commitment to stringent action against the culprits.
