BRICS Summit 2026: PM Modi Highlights Collective Spirit Of BRICS In New Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday highlighted the collective spirit of BRICS, saying member nations are working together to promote a more inclusive and prosperous global order.

Sharing a photograph with BRICS leaders at Bharat Mandapam, PM Modi posted, “A BRICS driven by cooperation and committed to shaping a more inclusive and prosperous world. With BRICS leaders during the Delhi Summit 2026.”

The Ministry of External Affairs described the gathering as a ‘moment of unity and shared purpose’, reflecting the bloc’s emphasis on closer coordination.

PM Modi joined fellow BRICS leaders for a joint tree plantation programme at Bharat Mandapam.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali and Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira participated in the initiative.

The leaders subsequently stood together for the customary family photograph while holding hands.

New Delhi Declaration Adopted

Earlier, the leaders convened for the BRICS session on ‘Inclusive Global Governance and Strengthening Multilateralism’ at Bharat Mandapam.

India is hosting the two-day summit in New Delhi, with representatives from BRICS member and partner countries and outreach invitees attending the event.

PM Modi announced that the leaders had unanimously adopted the New Delhi Declaration 2026 and unveiled two postage stamps commemorating two decades of BRICS.

During his concluding remarks, PM Modi said, “The New Delhi Declaration adopted today gives clear direction to our shared resolve. Now it is our responsibility to convert these resolutions into concrete results.”

The Prime Minister said the summit discussions covered major regional and international developments, alongside priorities for further strengthening cooperation within BRICS.

The Delhi Summit underlines India’s efforts to promote greater coordination, multilateral dialogue and collective action among BRICS nations.
