Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said India and Indonesia will further strengthen their partnership across several sectors. He made the remarks after meeting Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto during the two-day BRICS Summit in New Delhi.
In a post on X, PM Modi described the meeting as a warm interaction. He praised Prabowo’s positivity and optimism.
The Prime Minister said both countries would continue expanding cooperation across a broad range of areas.

Prabowo departed for Indonesia on Sunday afternoon after attending the BRICS Summit at Bharat Mandapam. The gathering brought together leaders from BRICS member and partner nations, along with outreach invitees.
Before Saturday’s opening session, Prabowo held a warm conversation with PM Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Indonesia’s Cabinet Secretariat shared a glimpse of the interaction on X and described the atmosphere as warm and friendly.
Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono said Indonesia called for a stronger and more representative multilateral system during the summit. He highlighted BRICS’ role in promoting collective interests and prosperity, particularly for the Global South.
Sugiono said inclusive global governance and effective multilateralism remain essential. He backed a reformed United Nations that can better represent nations and respond to their needs. He said BRICS, as a grouping of major economies, markets and leading energy producers, can promote resilience, opportunity and prosperity.
India’s BRICS presidency secured consensus on a Joint Statement on the summit’s first day.
The agreement marked a major diplomatic breakthrough amid significant geopolitical differences among participating countries.
