Amidst the escalating water scarcity crisis in Delhi, BJP leader Virendra Sachdeva spearheaded a protest against the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Admi Party (AAP) government.
The demonstration, organized by Delhi BJP under Sachdeva’s leadership, took place across 14 key locations in the city-state.
The protest, dubbed “Matka-fod Virodh” (pot-smashing revolt), was particularly vocal in areas such as Block-8, Geeta Colony, and Krishna Nagar.
BJP activists and supporters gathered to highlight what they perceive as the Kejriwal administration’s failure to effectively manage the water supply situation.
Accompanying the protest was a pointed visual critique from Delhi BJP, shared on its official platforms.
The imagery featured prominent AAP leaders depicted alongside a water tanker, surrounded by residents awaiting their turn to collect water for basic daily needs.
The accompanying caption on the poster labeled the AAP leadership as the “Gang of tanker mafia,” insinuating profiteering during the ongoing crisis.
Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Harsh Malhotra, and other BJP MPs lent their support to the protest, further amplifying the discontentment with the current state of affairs under the AAP government.
In a statement, Delhi BJP representatives accused the Kejriwal administration of capitalizing on the water shortage to benefit financially, condemning what they describe as exploitation of the populace’s basic needs for monetary gain.
The protest underscores the escalating tensions between BJP and AAP in Delhi, with water scarcity emerging as a critical issue affecting millions of residents.
As both parties maneuver to address public sentiment ahead of upcoming electoral cycles, the water crisis remains a pivotal battleground where governance effectiveness and accountability are under intense scrutiny.
