The monsoon remains active across Bihar, with the Meteorological Department issuing a Yellow Alert for 13 districts on Monday.
The alert covers West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Muzaffarpur, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Vaishali, Samastipur and Supaul.
The department has forecast heavy rainfall in Supaul, Samastipur, Sitamarhi and Darbhanga.
Strong winds of up to 30 kmph and lightning may affect some areas, prompting officials to advise residents to remain cautious.
Several areas recorded significant rainfall over the past 24 hours.
Munger received 73 mm, Patna 68 mm, Banka 67 mm and Muzaffarpur 65 mm, while Jamui and Siwan recorded 55 mm each.
Despite the recent showers, Bihar has recorded a 35 per cent rainfall deficit this season. Against the expected 820.9 mm, the state has received 531.3 mm so far.
Patna received 68 mm on Sunday and will likely remain cloudy on Monday. Light drizzle may occur, although continuous heavy rain remains unlikely.
Humidity and temperatures could rise after the rain, with no major temperature change expected during the week.
Rising river levels have worsened the flood situation. Heavy rainfall in Nepal and Uttarakhand has increased water levels in several rivers, affecting 18 districts and around 6.65 lakh people.
The Ganga is above the danger mark from Buxar to Bhagalpur, while the Punpun is 2.75 metres above the danger level, flooding parts of southern Patna.
Flooding has disrupted rail and road transport, while the Son River has affected around 20,000 people in Bihta.
The department expects uneven rainfall over the next few days, with localised cloud activity and light showers likely across different parts of Bihar.
