In Bhopal, a violent clash broke out between two groups at Old Galla Mandi in Jahangirabad. This resulted in stone-pelting and chaos. As per the media reports, at least six persons sustained injuries, prompting the deployment of heavy police forces to control the situation.
The video shared by IANS shows individuals hurling stones and lathis during the incident. As per the DCP Zone-1 Bhopal, Priyanka Shukla, the dispute between the two parties erupted two days ago.
“There was a dispute between two groups over a minor issue related to riding a bike at high speed two days ago under the Jahangirabad police station. An FIR was registered, and five individuals were named as accused”, DCP added.
Priyanka also said, “Of these, three have been arrested, while two are still at large. The police are actively working to apprehend them.”
Based on CCTV footage, the stone-pelters will be identified and action will be taken against them, the senior police official said.
Two persons have undergone a medical check-up and sustained minor injuries (in the stone-pelting incident). Some purported videos of the incident also surfaced on social media, showing miscreants pelting stones and holding sticks and swords.
ACP Awadhesh Kumar Goswami said that the victims of the Sunday clash hurled stones. He added that police personnel, deployed for the Congress rally, rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
