Bhishma Cube: A Game-Changer For Health & Safety At Maha Kumbh 2025

As preparations intensify for the grand Maha Kumbh 2025, the Uttar Pradesh government is taking bold steps to ensure the safety and health of millions of pilgrims, with one of the most innovative measures being the deployment of the Bhishma Cube, a cutting-edge mobile hospital designed to handle medical emergencies swiftly and efficiently.

A first for the Maha Kumbh, the Bhishma Cube is a high-tech, rapidly deployable medical unit that promises to revolutionize emergency care at the world’s largest religious gathering.

Previously tested at the Ram Mandir Prana Pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya in January 2024, the Bhishma Cube will likely be a key player in the healthcare infrastructure during the Kumbh festivities in Prayagraj.

The Bhishma Cube, also known as the Battlefield Health Information System for Medical Services (BHISMS), can treat up to 200 patients simultaneously, offering an extensive range of medical services from diagnostic tools to advanced surgical facilities.

What sets it apart is its rapid deployment – within just 12 minutes, the unit is ready to provide full-scale medical care.

Dr VK Mishra Highlights Bhishma Cube’s Unique Design & Features

Dr VK Mishra, the Joint Director of Medical Health in Prayagraj, highlighted the unit’s unique design and features.

He stated, “The Bhishma Cube is compact yet powerful. It is robust, waterproof, and light enough to be transported by bicycle, drone, or even airlifted to remote areas in critical situations. Its advanced AI-powered systems enable real-time data analytics, ensuring precise coordination and optimal care delivery.”

Engineers have optimized the design of the cube for extreme flexibility, enabling them to swiftly deliver it to the heart of the bustling Maha Kumbh area or deploy it to the most inaccessible corners of the event grounds, ensuring they can provide timely medical intervention in any circumstance.

Not only is the Bhishma Cube to support the local medical teams in handling common medical cases, but it can also equipped to deal with more serious surgical cases that may arise during massive religious gatherings.

Meanwhile, a team of trained medical professionals will staff the mobile unit, ready to act swiftly in emergencies.

The state-of-the-art mobile hospital has gained international attention for its innovative use of technology in disaster management.

During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ukraine in August 2024, he presented the Bhishma Cube to President Volodymyr Zelensky, emphasizing its global relevance as a versatile tool for emergency response.

Developed in collaboration with the Indian Air Force, defense technology experts, and leading healthcare institutions, the Bhishma Cube is a testament to India’s growing capabilities in cutting-edge healthcare solutions.
