Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis attended the Bharat Express Energy Summit in Mumbai on Wednesday, August 7. Bharat Express News Network Chairman, CMD, and Editor-in-Chief Upendra Rai questioned him about Sanatan Dharma, Uddhav Thackeray’s alliance break with the BJP, and Bala Saheb Thackeray’s principles.
Fadnavis accused Uddhav Thackeray of breaking the alliance solely for power. He stated, “Uddhav went there only for power, only to become the Chief Minister. We fought the elections together. In every speech, Modi ji, Amit Bhai, Nadda ji, and Uddhav ji himself said the election was under my leadership. Our CM candidate was repeatedly announced as Devendra Fadnavis.”
Fadnavis questioned why Uddhav Thackeray did not object to the promise of the CM post during the election campaign. He said, “If there was a promise, Uddhav ji would have objected. He never said anything. As soon as the numbers were counted, he changed sides and formed a new government, trampling Bala Saheb Thackeray’s ideas.”
Fadnavis criticized Shiv Sena (UBT) for campaigning with Mumbai blast accused. He said, “In this election, a Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate’s campaign was supported by the accused of the Mumbai bomb blast. A rally with a Pakistani flag was held. Would Bala Saheb Thackeray have tolerated this?”
Fadnavis addressed the continuous attacks from opposition leaders. “Our opposition parties know the power of this government is the BJP. They attack the BJP to create a narrative. Since I lead the party, they attack me. Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress, and Sharad Pawar’s party coordinate these attacks.”
Fadnavis described himself as a modern Abhimanyu who can break the Chakravyuh. “They think I am Abhimanyu and cannot come out of the Chakravyuh. They don’t know I am a modern Abhimanyu, and I know how to break the Chakravyuh.”
Fadnavis acknowledged making alliances and compromises. “I have never claimed to be the most honest man in the world. In politics, we make alliances and compromises against our basic role. But our original role, as given by our party, is first the country, then the party, and finally me.”
Fadnavis emphasized he never compromised on personal principles. “I made many compromises according to the need of the time, but I never compromised on how one should live personally. I have never compromised unnecessarily for myself, my family, or my loved ones.”
