Muhurat Trading 2026: Markets Enter Samvat 2083 After Seven-Day Winning Streak

Indian stock markets are set to begin Samvat 2083 with a special Muhurat trading session scheduled from 02:20 PM to 03:30 PM on Sunday, following a strong seven-session winning streak.

The markets enter the new Hindu financial year on a positive footing, with historical trends offering encouragement.

During the past 10 Muhurat sessions between 2016 and 2025, the Nifty and Sensex finished higher on eight occasions, declining only in 2016 and 2017.

The Nifty has recorded gains in every Muhurat session since 2018.

Market analysts said sentiment remained positive after the Nifty 50 broke out of its previous consolidation range and closed comfortably above the 25,000 mark.

While uncertainty surrounding artificial intelligence-related investments has made international investors cautious, domestic participants have continued buying shares whenever markets experience a decline.

In Friday’s session, the Nifty 50 crossed 25,000 for the first time since February, ending at around 25,030, up 2.01 per cent. The Sensex gained 1,718 points, or 2.17 per cent, to settle near 81,028. Both indices recorded their strongest weekly gains since February 2021.

Despite the positive momentum, market specialists advised investors to remain selective and avoid aggressive bets during the special trading window.

Investors traditionally consider Muhurat trading an auspicious opportunity to begin investments or reassess their existing portfolios.

Experts recommended making decisions based on company fundamentals, valuations and long-term financial objectives rather than festive enthusiasm. They suggested that long-term investors reassess their asset allocation and consider fundamentally strong companies, while short-term traders should track technical indicators and international market developments.

For Samvat 2083, experts identified banking and financial services, capital markets, manufacturing, global outsourcing and exports, consumption and digital businesses as sectors worth watching.
