Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Meets PM Modi To Review Development Agenda

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday to provide an update on the state government’s ongoing development efforts and plans.

The meeting focused on infrastructure projects, investment opportunities and public welfare initiatives that the BJP-led government is implementing across Assam.

After the interaction, Sarma shared details of the meeting on X, describing it as a privilege to meet the Prime Minister. He noted that he had presented an overview of the progress being made under the NDA 3.0 government in Assam and expressed appreciation for the Centre’s consistent support.

Sources indicated that the conversation focused on several major initiatives intended to strengthen Assam’s development trajectory. These included measures to expand infrastructure, improve transport links and ensure the effective delivery of welfare programmes across the state.

The Chief Minister also highlighted efforts aimed at boosting economic activity. Additionally, he emphasised measures to enhance public services. These initiatives align with the national objective of creating a developed India.

The meeting took place amid the state government’s renewed emphasis on attracting fresh investments and generating employment opportunities.

Assam has been actively promoting industrial development while advancing projects connected to manufacturing, technology and energy sectors.

Officials suggested that plans for expanding economic activity and creating a favourable environment for investors formed an important part of the discussions.

Over the past several years, Assam has recorded notable progress in multiple sectors. These, however, include transport infrastructure, healthcare, education and industrial development.

The state has also benefited from major projects involving highways, railway upgrades and emerging technology investments.

Government sources said the meeting underscored the strong working relationship between the Centre and the Assam government. The discussions focused on development and governance in the Northeast.

In recent weeks, Sarma has held a series of consultations with Union Ministers and central agencies. The discussions focused on expediting strategic projects. These initiatives, however, intend to support Assam’s long-term economic ambitions and improve the quality of life for its residents.
