Asian Games 2026: PM Modi Congratulates Roshibina Devi, Satnam Singh And Salman Khan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday congratulated Indian wushu player Naorem Roshibina Devi on winning the silver medal in the women’s 60kg sanda event at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya.

In a post, PM Modi called Roshibina’s achievement ‘noteworthy’ as she became the first Indian wushu athlete to win medals at three consecutive editions of the Asian Games. He praised her consistency, courage and determination and extended his best wishes for her future endeavours.

Roshibina had won bronze at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games and silver at the 2023 Hangzhou Games. She faced China’s Zhang Xiaoyu in the 60kg sanda final but lost both rounds to finish with silver.

Earlier in the competition, Roshibina defeated her opponents in the opening stages to secure her place in the final.

PM Modi congratulated Indian rowers Satnam Singh and Salman Khan on winning bronze in the men’s double sculls.

The pair clocked 6:13.25 at the Nagaragawa International Regatta Course to finish third.

China’s Yi Xudi and Yide Nie won gold in 6:09.77, while Uzbekistan’s Pavel Sorin and Mekhrojbek Mamatkulov secured silver in 6:10.49.

The bronze marked India’s first Asian Games medal in the men’s double sculls.

Satnam and Salman held second place until the 1,500-metre mark before dropping to third in the final 500 metres.

The medal was Satnam’s second at the Asian Games after he won bronze in the men’s quadruple sculls at the 2023 Hangzhou Games.

The performances added to India’s medal tally at the ongoing Aichi-Nagoya Games.
