Arun Jaitley Was A Peerless Constitutional And Legal Mind, Says Amit Shah On His Birth Anniversary

Union Home Minister HM Amit Shah led the Bharatiya Janata Party in commemorating former Union Minister Arun Jaitley on his 73rd birth anniversary, paying glowing tributes to a leader widely regarded as one of India’s finest constitutional minds and political strategists.

Taking to X, Shah posted, “Remembering Arun Jaitley Ji on his Jayanti. A peerless constitutional and legal expert and an orator par excellence, Jaitley Ji left an indelible legacy as a parliamentarian and will be remembered for his contribution to several landmark legal issues. His dedicated role in strengthening the party with his sharp legal acumen will live on, withstanding every test of time.”

Away from formal statements, Arun Jaitley’s wife, Sangeeta Jaitley, joined a small gathering at a park in south Delhi, renamed in his honour.

Speaking to the media, she recalled how Jaitley regularly visited the park for morning walks and loved celebrating his birthday. She said the family organised tea for visitors, a simple gesture reflecting his fondness for everyday joys.

Leaders Pay Floral Tributes

Senior leaders across the Union Cabinet joined HM Amit Shah in honouring the late leader.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Health Minister JP Nadda, Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav, and Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh paid floral tributes to the Padma Vibhushan awardee, who was born on December 28, 1952.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also echoed HM Amit Shah’s sentiments, praising Arun Jaitley’s unmatched contribution to nation-building.

CM Gupta highlighted his far-reaching economic vision and commitment to democratic values. She also pointed to his role in laying the foundations of fiscal discipline, transparency and institutional strength.

BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad remembered Arun Jaitley as a senior leader and mentor. He noted Jaitley’s pivotal role in shaping the NDA’s political strategy in Bihar.

He recalled Jaitley’s instrumental decision-making during the 2005 Bihar elections and his earlier tenure as Railway Minister under former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

In Patna, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar attended a state ceremony, garlanding Jaitley’s statue alongside ministers to honour his memory.

The collective tributes reinforced HM Amit Shah’s message that Arun Jaitley’s legacy continues to guide Indian politics.
