Army Foils Infiltration Attempt Along LoC In J&K’s Rajouri; Vigil Stepped Up In Poonch

Indian Army troops on Sunday successfully foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.

Simultaneously, security forces launched a search operation in Poonch district after locals reported suspicious movement along the LoC.

Army opens fire, intruders flee back to Pakistan

Alert soldiers detected suspicious movement in the Baratgala area of the Keri sector in Rajouri.

Acting swiftly, the troops opened fire on the suspected intruders.

The gunfire forced the infiltrators to retreat into Pakistan-occupied territory.

“Troops noticed suspicious movement and fired at the suspected infiltrators. The intruders withdrew to the Pakistani side of the LoC. A search operation is underway to sanitise the area,” officials confirmed.

Suspicious activity triggers search operation in Poonch

In a separate development, locals in Poonch district alerted authorities about possible infiltration attempts.

Based on the inputs, security forces launched combing operations in the region to prevent breaches.

“Security personnel have intensified searches along the LoC in Poonch after locals reported unusual movement,” officials said.

Security forces target terror network and drug trafficking

The Army and other security agencies continue to mount pressure on terrorist groups and their support networks.

Operations remain focused on dismantling the overground worker (OGW) ecosystem and severing funding channels, including hawala and drug smuggling routes originating from Pakistan.

Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has consistently directed security forces to eliminate the terror ecosystem, asserting that neutralising terrorists alone is not sufficient.

Authorities have increased security deployment ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra, scheduled from July 3 to August 9.

This year’s pilgrimage follows the deadly April 22 te

rror attack by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists in Baisaran meadow, Pahalgam, where 26 civilians—25 tourists and a local pony handler—lost their lives.

Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) have deployed additional companies to secure the pilgrimage route.

Intelligence agencies continue to monitor threats, especially those linked to cross-border terrorism and narco-terror financing.
