Andaman and Nicobar Islands Lieutenant Governor Dr Dinesh Sharma reviewed preparations for the annual Island Tourism Festival, administered an integrity pledge and paid tribute to Maharishi Valmiki on Tuesday.

During a meeting at Lok Niwas, Dr Sharma reviewed a presentation by the Directorate of Information, Publicity and Tourism (IP&T).

Dr Dinesh Sharma called for stronger grievance redressal systems and whistleblower mechanisms. He emphasised that ethical conduct and transparent administrative practices are essential to good governance and public trust.

Dr Sharma also marked Maharishi Valmiki’s birth anniversary alongside members of the Valmiki community residing in the islands. They garlanded the sage’s portrait and remembered his teachings and literary contributions.

The Lieutenant Governor highlighted the enduring message of the Ramayana. He said Maharishi Valmiki’s life and work inspire people to follow truth, righteousness, good conduct and humanity.
