Amit Shah’s Three-Day J&K Visit To Focus On Security & Development

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Jammu and Kashmir for three days beginning February 5 to review the security situation, inspect border preparedness, launch developmental projects and interact with political leaders, officials said on Monday.

Shah is scheduled to arrive in Jammu on the evening of February 5 and will meet political leaders at Lok Bhawan the same day.

On February 6, Amit Shah will visit the Hiranagar sector along the international border in Kathua to inspect BSF anti-infiltration equipment, and later chair a high-level security review meeting in Jammu with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and senior officials from the MHA, IB, CAPFs, and J&K administration.

This will be Shah’s second top-level security review of Jammu and Kashmir in less than a month.

On January 8, he chaired a similar meeting in New Delhi, followed by visits of senior security officials to Jammu on January 14 and 15.

Official sources said the Home Minister is particularly concerned about the presence of foreign terrorists in the upper reaches of the Jammu division, including Kathua, Doda, Kishtwar and Udhampur districts.

Search and combing operations are currently underway in areas such as Chatroo in Kishtwar and Billawar in Kathua.

On January 7, Shah will travel to Srinagar to launch various development projects before departing for Chhattisgarh later in the day.

The visit aims to further strengthen security coordination and sustain the gains achieved after the abrogation of Article 370, with an emphasis on zero infiltration and lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
