BJP Plans Protest Over Ajay Rai’s Remarks On Sarojini Nagar MLA Rajeshwar Singh

Lucknow’s political atmosphere has heated up once again following a remark made by Uttar Pradesh Congress president Ajay Rai about Sarojini Nagar MLA Dr Rajeshwar Singh. What began as a political attack during a Congress event has now escalated into a full-blown confrontation, with BJP workers taking to the streets in protest.

On Monday, February 3, 2026, BJP workers and supporters of Dr Rajeshwar Singh are staging a strong protest in the Sarojini Nagar area. According to information and posters circulated by the MLA’s supporters, the demonstration is being organized in response to what they describe as an “objectionable remark” made by Ajay Rai.

The protest is scheduled to take place at 11 a.m. at the Shaheed Path crossing, in front of Hotel Holiday Inn on Kanpur Road. Posters calling for participation carry the slogan, ‘Come, teach Ajay Rai a lesson.’

Supporters say the protest represents the voice of the people of Sarojini Nagar and insist that the dignity of their popular MLA will not be compromised under any circumstances.

What Is The Whole Controversy?

The controversy stems from a ‘Constitution Dialogue Mahapanchayat’ organized by the Congress on Sunday at a ground in Natkur, Sarojini Nagar.

During the event, Ajay Rai launched sharp attacks on both the central and state governments, accusing them of snatching farmers’ land, favoring industrialists, and failing to deliver justice in cases such as Sonbhadra.

In the course of his speech, he also made remarks about the Sarojini Nagar assembly and its MLA, which the BJP has labeled as ‘insulting and indecent.’

Following Ajay Rai’s statement, anger spread within BJP circles. Party leaders allege that the Congress leader is deliberately trying to tarnish the image of a popular MLA, something they say will not be tolerated.

Adding to the controversy, BJP leader Anita Tiwari (Annu) made a strong post on social media. Writing on Facebook, she said that Ajay Rai’s use of such language in Sarojini Nagar was extremely unfortunate.

She stated that the remark was not only an insult to Dr. Rajeshwar Singh but also to the women of Sarojini Nagar, and asserted firmly, “Ajay Rai will have to apologize.”
