Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Jammu and Kashmir on Monday to assess the ground situation, review security measures, and focus on development initiatives.
His visit comes amid heightened security in the region, as police and security forces have been placed on high alert.
Amit Shah will begin his visit by traveling to the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir.
He is expected to visit a forward post along the India-Pakistan border, where he will review the security situation and assess ongoing development projects.
The Union Home Minister will also visit the BSF Border Outpost Vinay in Kathua to assess the situation on the ground.
During his visit, Shah will meet the families of policemen who lost their lives in a recent encounter with terrorists.
The home minister will personally visit the families and express condolences.
He will also present appointment letters to some of the families of the martyrs selected on compassionate grounds.
In the afternoon, Shah will fly to Srinagar, where he will first take stock of various development programs at a meeting held at the Raj Bhawan.
Later, he will attend another meeting to review the security situation in the Union Territory (UT).
As part of his trip, the home minister will also visit the family of Deputy Superintendent of Police Humayun Bhat, who died while fighting terrorists in Kokernag, Anantnag, on September 13, 2023.
Ahead of Amit Shah’s visit, security across Srinagar and the Valley has been significantly heightened.
Authorities have implemented strict measures, including additional checkpoints, intensified patrolling, and increased drone surveillance around key installations.
Joint patrols by police and paramilitary forces will monitor sensitive areas, and electronic surveillance will track any suspicious activity.
On Sunday evening, Shah held a nearly two-hour meeting with BJP MLAs at the party’s headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
During the meeting, he assured that the security forces are actively working to restore normalcy in Jammu.
Shah reiterated the party’s stance on statehood, stating it would be restored at an appropriate time.
